In Memory of Patti Northup
Don’t cry because I’m gone
You taught me Jesus loves me
And pray before I sleep
To give to the needy
And to turn the other cheek
Believe in God almighty
And you shall have eternal life
I know the road I’ve chosen
Was short but it was right
Mama please don’t worry
For I found a better place
I’m here with Jesus
And heaven sure is great
There are angels all around me
I feel so at home
Mama I sure am happy
So don’t cry because I’m gone
Mama I sure am thankful
For the way that I was raised
Without you and daddy
I would not be here today
If I had to do it over
I wouldn’t change a thing
Because I’m here in heaven
And I’ll meet you at the gate
Mama please don’t worry
And tell daddy I’m doing fine
I found my place in heaven
When I left this world behind
This is a poem written by Brian Simpkins in remembrance of his sister Patricia (Patti) Northup who was killed on November 25th of 2000 in an automobile accident. She was killed just six days after her 36th Birthday.
